Tinawag ni Inay si Boy, ang batang ngo-ngo. "Boy, magpunta ka sa

"Omo, inay," ang sagot ni Boy. Pagdating ni Boy sa tindahan ay

Smart Boy !

A first-grade teacher was having trouble with one of her
students.

Teacher: What is your problem?

Boy: I’m too smart for the first-grade. My sister is in the
third-grade and I’m smarter than she is. I think I should be in the
third-grade too.

The teacher took the boy to the principal’s office. While the Boy waited
in the outer office, the teacher explained to the principal what the
situation was.

The principal told her that he would give the boy a test and if he failed
to answer any of his questions he was to go back to the first-grade and
behave. She agreed.

The boy was brought in and the conditions were explained to him and he
agreed to take the test.
Principal: What is 3 x 3? Boy: 9

Principal: What is 6 x 6? Boy: 36

And so it went with every question the principal thought a
third-grade should know. “I think the boy can go to the third-grade” ,
said the principal. The teacher said she had some of her own questions to
ask. The principal and the boy agreed.

Teacher: What is it that a cow has four and I have only two?
Boy: (after a moment) Legs.

Teacher: What is in your pants that you have but I do not have?
Boy: Pockets.

Teacher: What starts with a C and ends with a T, is hairy, oval, delicious
and contains thin whitish liquid?
Boy: Coconut.

Teacher : What goes in hard and pink then comes out soft and sticky?
The principal’s eyes openned really wide and before he could stop the
answer, the boy was already answering.
Boy: Bubblegum

Teacher: What does a man do standing up, a woman does sitting down and a
dog does on three legs? The principal’s eyes openned really wide and
before he could stop the answer…
Boy: Shake hands.

Teacher: Now I will ask some “Who am I” sort of questions, okay?
Boy: Yep.

Teacher: You stick your poles inside me. You tie me down to get me up. I
get wet before you do.

Boy:Tent

Teacher: A finger goes in me. You fiddle with me when you’re bored. The
best man always has me first. The Principal was looking restless, a bit
tense and took one large vodka peg…..
Boy: Wedding Ring.

Teacher: I come in many sizes. When I’m not well, I drip. When you blow
me, you feel good .
Boy: Nose

Teacher: I am a stiff shaft. My tip penetrates. I come with a quiver.
Boy: Arrow

Teacher: What word starts with a ‘F’ and ends in ‘K’ that means lot of
heat and excitement?
Boy: Firetruck.

Teacher: What word starts with a ‘F’ and ends in ‘K’ and if u dont get it
u have to use your hand?
Boy: Fork.

Teacher : What is it that all men have one. It is longer for some men than
for others. The pope doesn’t use his. Normally a man gives it to his wife
after they’re married?
Boy: SURNAME.

The principal breathed a sigh of relief and said to the teacher, “Send
this Boy to the University. I got the last ten questions wrong myself !”

The meaning of Valentine

Little Melissa comes home from first grade and tells her father that they learned about the history of Valentine’s Day. “Since Valentine’s Day is for a Christian saint and we’re Jewish,” she asks, “will God get mad at me for giving someone a Valentine?”

Melissa’s father thinks a bit, then says “No, I don’t think God would get mad. Who do you want to give a Valentine to?”

“Osama Bin Laden,” she says.

“Why Osama Bin Laden?” her father asks, reeling in shock.

”Well,” she says, “I thought that if a little American Jewish girl could have enough love to give Osama a valentine, he might start to think that maybe we’re not all bad, and maybe start loving people a little. And if other kids saw what I did and sent Valentines to Osama, he’d love everyone a lot. And then he’d start going all over the place to tell everyone how much he loved them and how he didn’t hate anyone anymore.”

Her father’s heart swells and he looks at his daughter with new-found pride. “Melissa, that’s the most wonderful thing I’ve ever heard!”

“I know,” Melissa says. “And once that gets him out in the open, the Marines could blow the crap out of him!”

All About Ormoc Leyte

THE HISTORY
The municipality of Isabel was called Dupong, named after a kind of a poisonous snake which infected a river found in the settlement. This name however, did not last long. When the Spanish missionaries ventured to the place to spread Christianity, they were surprised to find the natives generously entertaining them with a sweet tasting delicacy, the honey from wild bees. When the Spaniards asked the natives the place where they got the honey, they answered, “dugos sa quiot.” This became the name of the settlement although it was shortened to Quiot. Several years later, Spanish as well as Filipino missionaries frequented the village to progress the moral and religious life of the inhabitants. In 1851, the Spaniards made Quiot into a municipality.
There were various attempts made by prominent leaders to restore the municipality of Quiot. But all in vain. The people, despite their failures, remain fearless. They sent a delegation to Malacañang to personally work for the approval of their petition to make Quiot a municipality. After a few months, the town was created by virtue of Republic Act No. 191 series of 1947 of the Congress of the Philippines and Proclamation No. 49, series of 1948 by President Manuel Roxas. The municipality was called Isabel in honor of the wife of Ex-Senator Carlos S. Tan who fathered the bill and of Queen Elizabeth of Spain during whose reign the former town of Quiot was officially created. On January 15, 1948, in conjunction with the celebration of the feast of Sr. Sto. Niño, the titular patron Saint of Isabel, the town of Isabel, Leyte was formally inaugurated.

Grilla has lots of meat. If you like asian-style BBQ, this is a good place to find it. Their styles range from your typical Filipino pork bbq and inihaw, to Korean bbq and Indian tandoori chicken. For the non-carnivorous, there is a wide selection of grilled fish, vegetables, soups, and sandwiches. The drink menu is very extensive as well. I believe Grilla is now a franchise. I went to the one in Antipolo, but there are also restaurants in Makati and Quezon City - these two are much closer to downtown Manila.

A fresh buko juice goes for P70.

Time for the bed. Strip it bare. Take off all the bedding and use this opportunity to rotate the mattress. Flipping over your mattress not only increases its lifespan, but it will also feel great to sleep on the under-used side. Now, get out some fresh bedding and change the sheets. Then, finally make your bed. An unmade bed will make any room look messy by itself

Take the indoors outside with a sala room, a fantastic idea that combines the best of both worlds!

The place where you'll be sitting and visiting the most, needs the most attention. Since you've already removed the clutter, and made it smell nice, now all you have to focus on is tidying surfaces. Work quickly from left to right tidying each surface and removing any extra clutter. Quickly vacuum the main walkway of the floor.

Kitchen Area
Photobucket

It is all too easy for the kitchen to become messy, grimy, and smelly. However, it is equally easy to keep it clean if you wipe up after yourself and spend a little time on frequently used appliances and sides. Wash up your utensils as you cook and mop up spills as they happen, and your kitchen will instantly become a tidier and more manageable room.

A good multi-purpose cleaner that can be applied all around the kitchen can be made from water and a liquid dishwashing detergent combined in a spray bottle. Do not squeeze too much liquid in though, or the solution will be too foamy to spray.

Always keep an all-purpose cleaner and a sponge in the guest bath so you can sneak away and clean up when unexpected company shows up.
Keep a squeegee in the shower so everyone can wipe it down when they are done (this will help prevent mildew).
Steam helps to loosen build-up so why not clean while you're in there?
Disinfectant can be used on everything in the bath except the mirror.
Don't forget doorknobs and switchplates

Children short story

Children-Short Story

Photobucket

Once there was an elderly widow, Chen Ma, who lived with her only son inside a forest in the Shanxi Province. Her son was one of the tiger hunters licensed by the local magistrate, following the same profession of his father and grandfather before him. His share of the profits from the sale of tiger skins, meat and bones was sufficient to keep the small mud hut well provisioned for himself and his old mother.

All was well until a particularly bitter winter. During a snowstorm, Chen Ma's son was separated from his fellow hunters and became food for a hungry tigress.

After her initial shock and grief subsided, Chen Ma took stock of her own utterly desperate situation -- an old woman left all alone. She went and implored the magistrate to provide her with compensation for the loss of her son, who was her only source of support. The magistrate decreed that henceforth, she would have a small share of profits from the kill of each tiger by the hunters. Needless to say, his decision was not taken well by the hunters, who had plenty of mouths of their own to feed -- both old and young.

So, when the hunters succeeded in killing the tigress that ate Chen Ma's son, they decided not to give her a share of the profits. Instead, they brought her the tigress' newborn cub. He was a small quivery ball of golden fur with wobbly legs and toothless gums. The rope they tied around his neck was so tight that it was practically choking him. Instantly, Chen Ma's heart went out to this helpless creature, whose jade-green eyes were glistening with tears.
After the hunters left, the tiger cub wobbled to where Chen Ma sat and lay at her feet. She bent down to rub his ears and he licked her shoes with his soft tongue.

The elderly widow looked at the tiger baby and sighed. "They told me to butcher you, to salt and smoke your flesh for my meat supply. Your skin would make warm boots for my feet; your bones are good for making Tiger Bone Wine to ease the pain in my joints. But oh, how can I bear to kill you? You are so young and vital, while I am so old and frail."

Photobucket

And so, Chen Ma untied the rope from the little tiger's neck and fed him a paste of cooked roots with her fingers. Her son had a good supply of grains and roots in the attached shed and she planned to stretch the food out to last the winter.

When the store of the firewood was running low, Chen Ma was unable to keep her bedroll on top of the kang warm (a kang is a bed base built of bricks with space for a small fire). So she slept curling against the baby tiger, whose soft fur was cozy and warm.

Once ever so often, women from nearby villages would bring sewing for Chen Ma to do. She was very handy with a needle. They paid her for her labor with dried venison and small sacks of grain. At first they did not find the little tiger's presence alarming; he was no bigger than a piglet. However, when spring came, he had grown into the size of a calf, showing a full set of teeth and claws. The women told their hunter husbands and the men came to kill the young tiger.

A Tale of Friendship

Photobucket

Years ago, even before the Indian had set foot in America, there lived a colony of beavers on the banks of a tributary of the Mattawamkeag River in upper Maine. Semi-mountainous, it was a beautiful place with willow, elm and pine trees and plants such as fern and duckweed. The banks of the tributary were dotted with meadows of wild grass created by the beavers in the cutting of trees to build their dam.

The beaver colony was neither large nor small, having three families and ten members, and like all beaver they worked very hard to dam the small river. Although the beavers took occasional breaks, usually for not more than half an hour, one beaver relished sitting at the water's edge deep in thought. He worked harder and faster just so he could sit still longer. If they kept busy with the who and what of things, he found value in the if and why of things -- for hours at a time.

One day in early spring while he was sitting on the bank deep in thought about why trees should shed their leaves in winter, he was distracted by a loud "quack-wack-wack" and "rab-rab-rab". He looked up to see four mallard ducks attacking a smaller one that limped, chasing her from the water onto the bank near him. She struggled to get a foothold, suffering numerous pecks, and he saw anguish in her eyes. It was too much for his sense of fairness. "Stop that," he blurted out.

The ducks ceased their pecking and fell back astonished. They were accustomed to being ignored by beavers so what was this? He glared at them but didn't say anything more, so all but the small one that limped jumped back in the water. She caught her breath before quacking, "Why did you do that?"

The beaver shrugged, "They're always picking on you. I got tired of it."

"Well," she said, "They didn't used to pick on me. But nobody else cares -- not ducks, and certainly not beavers. It's... very curious."

"Curious?"

"Why, yes." The duck began preening her feathers, pretending indifference. "I notice things. If I didn't I couldn't keep out of the way of those hooligans always chasing me. I notice you sit here far more than other beavers do, and...that makes me curious."

The beaver sighed. "Oh, I like that word "curious...curiosity, curiously, curiousness." He rolled the sounds over his tongue like the taste of a tender willow sprig. "I am myself curious about many things. For instance, what is your name?"

"Miena."

The beaver lowered his voice as if they were co-conspirators. "Miena, my name is Dooro. I have a question. I've often wondered about those objects that hang in the sky. Not the clouds, but the round things, that very big bright one during the day, and the dimmer one at night along with all the sparkles. Have you flown there? Can you touch them?"

"Oh, no!" she said. "It doesn't matter how high I fly, they're always farther. I suspect I could fly for ten summertimes and never reach them."

"Really."

Dooro was so impressed Miena flapped her wings momentarily. "Yes, when you fly you do notice a lot of things. Like, did you know there are not just other rivers and lakes like we have right here, but a lake so big it takes weeks, maybe months, to fly across? I've never actually crossed it, but we ducks hear stories from other birds. It tastes salty and strange animals swim in there, like a fish so big it could swallow this pond in one gulp."

The beaver was enchanted. He'd never heard such a thing. He listened in rapt wonder as the duck talked on about seals, dolphins, water spouts and hurricanes. She had an endless supply of information, so their conversation continued for hours punctuated only by the beaver's quick dips into the water. He apologized, explaining that he needed to wet his paws or they developed cracks in the warm spring air. The more Dooro listened the more Miena told until they had talked late into the afternoon and the trees' shadows had became fingers long and thin, and a cool breeze had sprung up.

"I have to go now," said Dooro.

"Me, too," Miena echoed and reluctantly slipped back into the pond.

"Mary, Help of Those in Need" was formerly the Magnificat antiphon from the Common of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Evening Prayer.

Mary, all who seek your help
experience your unfailing protection.

Prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary

Mary, who as teacher of faith by your obedience to the word of God, has cooperated in a remarkable way with the work of redemption, make the ministry of deacons effective by teaching them to hear the word and to proclaim it faithfully.

Mary, teacher of charity, who by your total openness to God's call has cooperated in bringing to birth all the church's faithful, make the ministry and the life of deacons fruitful by teaching them to give themselves totally to the service of the people of God.

Mary, teacher of prayer, who through your maternal intercession has supported and helped the church from her beginnings, make deacons always attentive to the needs of the faithful by teaching them to come to know the value of prayer.

Mary, teacher of humility, by constantly knowing yourself to be the servant of the Lord you were filled with the Holy Spirit, make deacons docile instruments in Christ's work of redemption by teaching them the greatness of being the least of all.

Mary, teacher of that service which is hidden, who by your everyday and ordinary life filled with love knew how to cooperate with the salvific plan of God in an exemplary fashion, make deacons good and faithful servants by teaching them the joy of serving the church with an ardent love.

O Virgin Mother

O Virgin Mother,
In the depths of your heart you pondered the Life of the son you brought into the world. Give us your vision of Jesus and ask the Father to open our hearts, that we may always see his presence in our lives, and in the power of the Holy Spirit, bring us into the joy and peace of the kingdom, where Jesus is Lord forever and ever. Amen

Prayer to Mary Help of Christians

Most Holy and Immaculate Virgin, Help of Christians, we place ourselves under your motherly protection. Throughout the Church's history you have helped Christians in times of trial, temptation and danger. Time and time again, you have proven to be the Refuge of sinners, the Hope of the hopeless, the Consoler of the afflicted, and the Comforter of the dying. We promise to be faithful disciples of Jesus Christ, your Son, to proclaim His Good News of God's love for all people, and to work for peace and justice in our world. With faith in your intercession, we pray for the Church, for our family and friends, for the poor and abandoned, and all the dying. Grant, O Mary, Help of Christians, the graces of which we stand in need. (Mention your intentions.) May we serve Jesus with fidelity and love until death. Help us and our loved ones to attain the boundless joy of being forever with our Father in heaven. Amen.

Mary, Help of Christians, pray for us!

Canticle of Mary
The "Canticle of Mary" or "Magnificat" is sung in the celebration of Evening Prayer each day. The text is taken from the Gospel according to Luke 1:46-55.

My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,
my spirit rejoices in God my Savior
for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant.

From this day all generations will call me blessed:
the Almighty has done great things for me,
and holy is his Name.

He has mercy on those who fear him
in every generation.

He has shown the strength of his arm,
he has scattered the proud in their conceit.

He has cast down the mighty from their thrones,
and has lifted up the lowly.

He has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich he has sent away empty.

He has come to the help of his servant Israel
for he remembered his promise of mercy,
the promise he made to our fathers,

Prayer to the Immaculata

O Immaculata, Queen of Heaven and Earth, refuge of sinner and most Loving Mother, God has willed to entrust the entire order of mercy on to you. I, (name), a repentant sinner, cast myself at your feet, humbly imploring you to take me with all that I am and have, wholly to yourself as your possession and property. Please make of me, of all my powers of soul and body, of my whole life, death and eternity, whatever most pleases you. If it pleases you, use all that I am and have without reserve, wholly to accomplish what was said of you: "She will crush your head" and "You alone have destroyed all the heresies in the world."

Let me be a fit instrument in your immaculate and merciful hands for introducing and increasing your glory to the maximum in all the many strayed and indifferent souls, and thus help extend as far as possible the Blessed Kingdom of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. For wherever you enter, you obtain the grace of conversion and growth in holiness, since it is through your hands that all graces come to us from the most Sacred Heart of Jesus.

V. Allow me to praise you, O Sacred Virgin.
R. Give me strength against your enemies.

Daily Renewal of Total Consecration

Immaculata, Queen and Mother of the Church,
I renew my consecration to you for this day and for always, so that you might use me for the coming of the Kingdom of Jesus in the whole world. To this end I offer you all my prayers, actions and sacrifices for this day.

An Act of Consecration to the Blessed Virgin
(for infants at time of Baptism)

O blessed Virgin Mary our Mother, when the Son of God decided to take upon Himself our human life in order that we might share in His Divine Life, He did not wish to come to us without your free cooperation. He deliberately willed to have need of you.
Look down today from heaven upon little (name of infant). He (or she) has received from his (or her) parents the life of man, and now by the Holy Sacrament of Baptism, he (or she) has been given a life which is infinitely superior, the very life of God. We know that just as God is his (or her) Father and our Father, you are, in regard to his spiritual life, his (or her) Mother and our Mother.

We confide this child to you. Show yourself his (or her) Mother. Watch over his (or her) education; nourish him (or her) with the life of grace; make him progress in his Christian life just as his (or her) human parents aid him (or her) to progress in physical as well as spiritual life.

Protect the precious life which has just been received. Be for him a real Mother to guard him (or her) in your arms when the devil seeks to destroy his (or her) spiritual life in your son Jesus Christ. May he (or she) love you as Jesus Christ loved you, for our love for you is nothing else but a participation in the love of your Son for you.

In the name of this child (name of infant), we wish to make today his (or her) first prayer to his heavenly Mother.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with Thee,
blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour

Dedication Of A Child To Our Lady Of Gudalupe

Dear Mary, your message of love and care on Tepeyac Hill floated like a lilting lullaby into the fresh golden dawn. Softly you called to Juan Diego, “least of your sons,” a man of middle years, but guileless and childlike in spirit.

Through him you invited all your children to come to you, the ever-virgin Mother of God, to look to you as a mother who wanted only to show a mother’s love. You would give them whatever they needed, help and protection, strength and comfort. As a lasting proof you left us your own marvelous picture, unpainted by any human hand.

Today we bring to you our child ( I bring __________ my) (as yet Unborn). May this little one always know and love you as holy Mary, Mother of the true God in whom we live and have our being. May this new soul, fresh breathed forth from the creator, giving life to the body, be like the soul of Juan Diego, simple, pure and good.

Dear Lady of Guadulupe, touch this petal of our hearts with the wintry roses of Tepeyac, so that a fragrant joy and peace may spread along its path of earthly life, reminding men of you and sweetly drawing them to your waiting heart.

Take this child as your own. Lady lovely and demure, enfolded in the mantle of your care, until the day when in a new land, all your children join with you, their merciful mother, endlessly giving praise and thanks to God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Amen.

"Sunday Prayers"

Morning

O God, you are my God,
for you I long;
for you my soul is thristing.
I long for you
like dry, weary land without water.
Give me your strength and your glory.

I wish to praise you all my life
fill my soul as with a banquet.
I cling to you;
hold me close in your hands.
Psalm 63

Glory to the Father. . .

Evening

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
In verdant pastures he gives me repose.
Beside restful waters he leads me;
he refreshes my soul.
He guides me in right paths for his name's sake.
Even though I walk in the dark valley I fear no evil;
for you are at my side with your rod and your staff
that give me courage.
You spread the table before me in the sight of my foes;
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
Only goodness and kindess follow me all the days of my life;
And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord for years to come.
Psalm 23

"Monday Prayers"

Morning
I call upon you, O Lord.
In the morning you hear me;
in the morning I offer you my prayer, watching and waiting. . .Psalm 5

I lift my heart to you, O Lord,
to be strengthened for this day.
Be with me in all I do, my God;
guide me in all my ways.

I will carry some burdens today;
some trials will be mine.
So I wait for your help, Lord,
lest I stumble and fall.

I will do my work, Father,
the work begun by your Son.
He lives in me and I in him;
may his work today be done.

Glory to the Father. . .

Evening

Father in heaven,
I lift my eyes to you and wait for your help.
I am your servant, entrusted with your gifts;
I am yours alone.

I lift my eyes to you who dwell in heaven.
Like a faithful servant, I wish to do your bidding.

As the eyes of a good servant are on the master,
so are our eyes on the Lord, our God, till he bless us. Psalm 12

Glory to the Father

Tuesday Prayers "

Lord, teach us to number our days aright,
that we may gain wisdom of heart . . . Psalm 90

Help us do today the things that matter,
not to waste the time we have.

Yes, the moments we have are precious, Lord,
see that we count them dear.
Teach us to number our days aright.
Fill us this day with your kindness,
that we may be glad and rejoice all the days of our life.

Glory to the Father

Evening

Lord, as this day ends,
soul and body, I am tired.
And all I have done:
is it worthwhile?
I need you, Lord,
where can I turn, except to you?

O Lord, my heart is not proud, nor are my eyes haughty;
I busy not myself with great things too sublime for me.
Nay rather, I have stilled and quieted my soul like a weaned child.
Like a weaned child on its mother's lap,
so is my soul within me.
O Israel, hope in the Lord,
both now and forever. Psalm 131

Glory to the Father. . .

Wednesday Prayers

Morning

Praise the Lord, O my soul.
I will praise the Lord all my life;
I will sing praise to my God while I live. . . Psalm 146

Praise the Lord,
my mind and memory,
my thoughts and deeds of this day.
I will praise the Lord wherever I go;
I will sing praise,
for the Lord is good.

Prise the Lord,
strangers and friends;
let us praise him for he loves us;
let us sing praise to our God while we live.

Glory to the Father. . .

Evening

The Lord is my light and my salvation,
whom should I fear?
The Lord is my life's refuge;
of whom should I be afraid?

One thing I ask of the Lord;
this I seek:
To dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life.
That I may gaze on the loveliness of the Lord
and contemplate his temple.

Hear, O Lord, the sound of my call;
have pity on me, and answer me.
Of you my heart speaks;
you my glance seeks;
your presence, O Lord, I seek. Psalm 27

Glory to the Father. . .

Thursday Prayers "

Morning

Sing joyfully to the Lord, all you lands;
serve the Lord with gladness;
come before him with joyful song.
Know that the Lord is God;
he made us, his we are;
his people, the flock he tends.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving,
his courts with praise;
Give thanks to him;
bless his name, for
he is good:
the Lord,
whose kindness endures forever,
and his faithfulness to all generations. Psalm 100

Evening

Lord, I thank you for the many times you gave me help,
always listening when I called.

In my darkest moments,
when all seemed to be lost,
there you were, at my side.

The Lord always listens and has pity;
the Lord always comes to our help.

Our mourning you change into dancing;
you always clothe us with joy. Psalm 3

Friday Prayers "

Morning

Have mercy on me, O God, in your goodness;
in the greatness of your compassion wipe out my offense.
Thoroughly wash me from my guilt
and of my sin cleanse me.
A clean heart create for me,
O God,
and a steadfast spirit renew within me.
Cast me not out from your presence,
and your holy spirit take not from me.
Cleanse me of sin with hyssop,
that I may be purified;
wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
Let me hear the sounds of joy and gladness;
the bones you have crushed shall rejoice. Psalm 51

Evening

My God, every day I praise you,
my voice blending with the prayer of every generation.

You are good and merciful,
slow to anger and of great kindness.
The Lord is faithful in all his words and holy in all his works.
The Lord lifts up all who are falling
and raises up all who are bowed down.
The eyes of all look hopefully to you,
and you give them their food in due season;
You open your hand and satisfy the desire
of every living thing. Psalm 145

Glory to the Father. . .
